Formed in 1998, the West Liberty Public Library Foundation is a key player in the Library's future. Its mission is to strengthen and enrich the library by providing supplementary funds for the facility, its services, and materials.
The Library itself came into being because of a gift from the Carnegie Foundation. This gift covered the initial cost of the building. Since the building was accepted and dedicated in 1904, the community has been entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining this free public library. Tax dollars are available for immediate needs but little else. The need for support of long-range goals has never been greater.
What is the best gift that can be given to a community?
A free public library occupies the first place, provided the community will accept and maintain it as a public institution.
What does your contribution mean?
Some of the traditional and modern services which challenge our library's financial resources are: materials in business, industry, technology and the sciences; lecture series by noted authors and public figures; audiovisual media, and computers with on-line services.
Cash gifts are the most obvious form of support that people who value public libraries can make, but there are many other ways you can help:

Our Future Goals
The West Liberty Public Library Foundation raises funds to supplement, not supplant, the Library's tax-based support, and that enables the Library to reach those who need us the most. A private gift to the Library is a way to help someone else in the community -- to help make their life a little better. Our goal is to establish an endowment of $400,000 in the next five years.
