Gearing Up for Summer
The Library will be sponsoring the summer reading program as usual, but with an international twist this year and going for eight weeks!! We are putting out a challenge to not only kids, but the entire community to beat former library reading records. There will be fun and interesting community rewards for achieving 50% and 100% goals. We also are happy to announce all the performers that will be making West Liberty a stop, one of the biggest being Dan Wardell!! Registration will open May 1st online or at the Library. Moms, Dads, and the entire community......we at the Library challenge you this summer, too!!!
We heard and we are responding!! We are excited to announce a new program the After School Learning Curve which will focus on the maintenance and increased skills in the areas of literacy, writing and math. We are working closely with the school to focus on what our District's kids need and to do it in a fun way. The ASLC will be on Tues and Wed mornings 10-12 and Mondays 1-3 are special extra fun activity days for kids who come either Tues or Wed (or both days). What will be doing?? Working on reading, writing and sharing ideas! Monday participants will have a chance to experience such things as Junior Lego League, do special science experiments, and other activities that coordinate with the Tues/Wed themes. Tuesdays also will have a native Spanish speaker available to work with those in the dual language program to work on their Spanish reading and speaking! Let's not lose those skills that kids have worked hard to gain, just because school is not in session!
For more information contact Janette McMahon, 627-2084 at the Library. Registration begins May 1st on line or at the Library. Sign up is required and remember in order to participate in the Monday activities the child must come to either Tues or Wed mornings.
