Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

Submitted by jmcmahon on Mon, 05/24/2010 - 11:38
While we catalog this book in the young adult section.. I would highly recommend any adult, especially parents of girls, to take awhile and read this novel. Bulimia and anorexia are the main themes explored, but takes you further into the girls' thoughts and the stresses of a teenage girl's life. This author is well known for her powerful books for teens. Speak, a book written from a girl's point of view after being date raped was equally as strong and I did not think another book would surpass my opinion as it being her best book, Wintergirls does.
